💬 In a few words:
Oh sweetie, you won't believe the drama! Bari Weiss, that new CBS chief, just pulled a "60 Minutes" story about a harsh prison, sparking outrage. Everyone's whispering it's political, not just "not ready." Heavens!
More details:
Oh Sweetie, You Won't Believe the Tittle-Tattle at '60 Minutes'!
Well, I never! You know that good ol' "60 Minutes"? The show we've watched for decades, bless its heart? Apparently, their new head honcho, Bari Weiss – yes, that one, from that online thingy – just pulled a big, important story right out from under everyone's noses!
Can you believe it? Just a day and a half before it was supposed to air, a whole segment about some horrible detention center in El Salvador was yanked! Where our President Trump's administration apparently sent hundreds of Venezuelan folks last March! My pearls, I almost clutched them right off!
Grandma's Got Her Eyebrows Raised: "Political, You Say?"
Now, Bari Weiss is saying it "wasn't ready" and needed more "on-the-record" comments, demanding someone like Stephen Miller from the White House. Honestly, honey, who pulls a story that far along for that reason? It sounds a bit fishy, doesn't it?
And let me tell you, the reporter who worked tirelessly on it, a lovely lady named Sharyn Alfonsi, she sent an email to everyone saying she thought it was "not an editorial decision, it is a political one." Oh, the scandal! She even said if the administration can just refuse to comment and kill a story, they've got a "kill switch"!
"Government silence is a statement, not a VETO,"
Now, Here's the Real Scoop on What's Going On...
You see, this isn't just a simple mix-up, bless your heart. There's a whole new owner at CBS, David Ellison – and wouldn't you know it, his daddy, Larry Ellison, is a big supporter of President Trump! Talk about connections, eh?
And don't forget, President Trump himself sued CBS not too long ago over a "60 Minutes" interview and got a whopping $16 million settlement! Can you imagine? Some folks said he didn't even have a case, but money talks, doesn't it? The new owner had promised the feds CBS would be "more hospitable to conservatives." Hmmph. A grandmother knows a wink and a nod when she sees one!
Oh, and this Bari Weiss lady? She actually questioned calling the detainees "Venezuelan migrants" and preferred "illegal immigrants", even though many were here legally seeking asylum. Back in my day, we just reported what was true, not what suited one side or another.
Honestly, Grandma Just Can't Even With Today's News!
"The news used to be about finding the truth, not about who you know or how much money they have!"
It just makes you wonder, doesn't it, sweetie? What's going to happen to our news when the money men start calling all the shots? I tell you, it's enough to make a gal want to just stick to her crossword puzzles and a good cup of chamomile tea.
All this drama over one story... and what will happen to the poor souls in that prison? It's enough to give a grandmother the vapors! I truly hope they get that story out eventually. We deserve to know, don't we?
Grandma's waiting on your verdict
Pour dear Grandma another cup by tapping how this gossip feels. She can't finish her knitting until you whisper your take.
