💬 In a few words:
Oh, sweetie, Mary Trump is gossiping again! She says her uncle, President Trump, is on a 'slippery slope,' losing his touch. Well, I never!
More details:
Oh Sweetie, The Family Drama Continues!
Well, I declare! You simply won't believe what's buzzing on the grapevine. That dear Mary Trump, bless her heart, has been quite vocal again about her uncle, President Donald J. Trump. She's out there, dear, saying he's on a "slippery slope" and is about to slide right down it! Can you imagine? It's like something straight out of a soap opera, only with more presidential seals!
She wrote all this in her little online newsletter, you know, that 'Substack' thingamajig. She’s claiming that her uncle has "lost the ability to control the narrative", and that his usual way of "lying, spinning, and obfuscating" just isn't working anymore. Goodness gracious, what a thing to say about your own family! But then, some families are just like that, aren't they?
And then, wouldn't you know it, the White House Communications Director, a Mr. Steven Cheung, fired right back! He called Mary a "stone-old loser who doesn’t have a clue about anything." My word! Talk about harsh words at the dinner table! I always say, you should never air your dirty laundry in public, but these folks? They just can't help themselves.
Grandma's Two Cents on All This Shenanigans!
Honestly, sometimes I just want to sit them all down with a warm cup of chamomile tea and tell them to behave! Back in my day, if you had family squabbles, you kept them behind closed doors. Now, everyone just puts it all out there for the whole world to see on their 'Substack' and 'Newsweek'! It's simply scandalous!
Mary, bless her cotton socks, always has something to say about her uncle. She's the daughter of Fred Trump Jr., you know, Donald's brother. She always speaks her mind about his policies and the whole family history. Some people might call it 'speaking truth to power,' but I call it gossiping on a grand scale! (And I should know a thing or two about grand scale gossiping, darling!)
She's saying that where he used to look strong, he now appears "diminished to the point of impotence." Heavens to Betsy, that's a strong claim! I wonder if she’s just trying to sell more of her little newsletters. Everyone's a critic these days, aren't they?
Now, Here's What's Actually Happening, Sweetie...
Now, let's get down to brass tacks and what's really going on, beyond all the family dramatics. Mary Trump's prediction comes at a time when, well, things aren't exactly rosy for her uncle. Since he returned to the White House in January (that's President Donald J. Trump, of course), his approval ratings have taken a bit of a tumble.
The latest poll, from YouGov and The Economist, shows that only 39 percent of voters approve of his performance. That's a drop, dear, a considerable drop! And a whopping 57 percent gave him negative marks. (I’m shaking my head so hard right now…) They surveyed 1,592 adults, so it's not just a few grumbling old folks like me.
Apparently, folks are still quite worried about the economy and the rising cost of living. And remember those Epstein files? President Trump had campaigned on releasing them, but his administration was a bit slow, shall we say, until Congress had to step in and make them do it last month. All these things, Mary says, have made solutions "more complicated" for him.
"He can pretend they don’t exist, but convincing others they don’t requires more than yelling at reporters or telling people not to trust their own lived experiences."
That's what she wrote, word for word! A bit harsh, but she's certainly not mincing words, is she? She thinks the country is on the "precipice of something awful," but believes we can pull back. For her uncle, though, she has a much grimmer outlook.
Oh, I Just Can't Even With All This Today!
Honestly, sometimes I just want to put my feet up with a good book and pretend none of this is happening! Mary says that for Donald to stop his "slide," he'd have to recognize his limitations, defer to experts (imagine!), admit his mistakes, and change course. Well, I never! She truly believes that "Donald is exactly who he’s always been; he’s incapable of change."
And that, sweetie, might just be working to everyone else's advantage, according to her. She's been quite the critic of the whole administration and the GOP this year, always pointing out their approach to free speech and foreign policy. It's a lot, isn't it?
It just goes to show, family will always be family, even when they’re disagreeing about the President of the United States! Pass the sugar, dear, this tea needs a little something extra after all that!
Grandma's waiting on your verdict
Pour dear Grandma another cup by tapping how this gossip feels. She can't finish her knitting until you whisper your take.
