💬 In a few words:
Well, I never! Speaker Johnson is trying to play coy about President Trump's unbelievable comments on Rob Reiner. He's acting like he didn't hear a thing, bless his heart!
More details:
Oh Sweetie, The Whispers Are True!
Well, I never! Have you heard about poor Speaker Mike Johnson? Bless his heart, it seems he’s been caught in quite the pickle trying to dodge those nosy reporters about President Trump’s latest... incident involving that lovely Hollywood icon, Rob Reiner. It’s just like when young Billy tried to hide that cookie jar he’d emptied! You just know he knew better, but he’s putting on quite a show.
Apparently, President Trump, our dear President Donald J. Trump (you know, the one in office as of December 2025!), made some comments after Mr. Reiner’s tragic passing with his wife, and honey, they were apparently a bit... off-kilter. And poor Speaker Johnson? He just couldn’t seem to find his words when CNN’s Manu Raju pressed him on it.
Grandma's Shaking Her Head, Bless His Heart
Heavens to Betsy! The nerve! When that nice Mr. Raju from CNN asked him point-blank if he’d condemn President Trump’s post, Speaker Johnson just batted his eyes and said,
"I don’t do ongoing commentary about everything that’s said by everybody in government every day."
Oh, but it gets better, sweetie! Mr. Raju, bless his persistence, even pointed out that they were talking about the President every day, and still, Johnson just pivoted like he was doing a ballroom dance! He tried to change the subject to "bringing down health care costs for the American people," as if that’s going to make us forget the initial scandal. Honestly, back in my day, we looked folks in the eye and spoke our minds!
It sounds like he’s trying a new trick, darling. Usually, he pretends he simply didn’t know what President Trump said, but this time, he’s just saying he’s too busy. Too busy! Imagine! It's just a way to avoid taking responsibility, if you ask me. It’s like saying you didn't see the jam on little Timmy’s face when he just finished the whole jar!
What Actually Happened (According to the Nice Reporters)
Now, let’s get down to brass tacks, because Grandma still likes her facts, even when they’re wrapped in a bit of drama. Young Mr. Manu Raju from CNN cornered House Speaker Mike Johnson, our very own Speaker, in the Capitol on a Monday night. He asked him directly, "Mr. Speaker, do you condemn Trump’s post about Rob Reiner?"
And what did Speaker Johnson say? He gave that rather dismissive quote I mentioned earlier. He didn't just ignore the initial question; he also ignored Mr. Raju's follow-up that he does comment on the President regularly. Instead, he tried to redirect the conversation to important legislative matters like healthcare costs, which, of course, are very important, but not at that moment for that specific question!
The reporters also mentioned that a lot of other House Republicans weren’t happy with President Trump’s comments. But Speaker Johnson? He was just as dismissive about that, too! He just wanted to get away from those curious reporters, claiming he'd "gave commentary this morning," as if that covers everything. Honestly, it just makes him look like he knows President Trump was out of line but simply refuses to hold him accountable. Such a shame!
Grandma Just Can't Even Today!
Honestly, sweetie, sometimes I just want to throw my hands up in the air! Here we have our Speaker, who should be a pillar of... well, speaking up... and he’s tiptoeing around like a cat on a hot tin roof. It just proves that
he knows good and well
But instead of saying something, anything, he just puts on this act. It’s enough to make you sigh so hard your teacup rattles! It’s one thing to be loyal, but darling, there’s a line. And it seems for poor Speaker Johnson, that line just keeps moving further and further out of sight. What ever happened to standing up for what’s right, even when it’s uncomfortable? Goodness gracious, I need another slice of pie after this! The drama, oh the drama!
Grandma's waiting on your verdict
Pour dear Grandma another cup by tapping how this gossip feels. She can't finish her knitting until you whisper your take.
