Remember that big kerfuffle last week? Five of them actually sided with the Democrats to get this measure moving. President Trump, bless his heart, went on one of his famous rants, practically demanding they lose their jobs!

But then, wouldn't you know it, Majority Leader John Thune, that sneaky one, managed to flip two of those Republicans right back to the other side. Honestly, it's like watching a soap opera, but with less romance and more paperwork!

Oh sweetie, the excuses these boys come up with! Senator Hawley, from Missouri, said his worries just vanished after a little chat with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Imagine that! A quick chat and suddenly everything's peaches and cream.

And then there's Senator Young, from Indiana. He declared he changed his mind because he was told there were "no American troops in Venezuela." Well, I never! Was he expecting them to be hiding under the sofa?

He also got a "commitment" that President Trump would ask permission for major operations. Back in my day, a commitment was written in stone, not whispered over coffee. It just makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Why Grandma Just Can't Even Today (Or Any Day, Really)

Honestly, I just can't even with these politicians sometimes! It feels like they're playing a big game of checkers with our country, and Grandma's just sitting here watching the pieces move.

This isn't the first time Congress has tried to put a leash on military power, you know. They tried a couple of similar things last year, and they flopped too. It's a real shame, it is!

And now President Trump is out there talking about military force in places like Iran and even Greenland! Heavens to Betsy, what's next? The moon?

The Democrats say they're going to keep pushing these war powers votes, bless their determined little hearts. So I suppose we're in for more drama, and Grandma will be here, cup of tea in hand, ready to tell you all about it!
