Oh, sweetie, you are simply not going to believe the latest ruckus down in Washington, D.C.! Our very own President Trump, yes, that President Trump, decided he was going to play host at the Kennedy Center Honors this year, for the first time ever! Can you imagine? He skipped it every year during his first term, saying it wasn't his cup of tea, but now, all of a sudden, he's the belle of the ball! And not just any ball, mind you, but one honoring some very respectable folks like Sylvester Stallone (oh, that Rocky!), George Strait (a real country boy!), the loud rock-and-rollers KISS, the fabulous Gloria Gaynor (who doesn't love a good disco queen?), and Michael Crawford.

But here's where the real gossip starts: while he's up there on stage, with all the cameras flashing and the high-society types in their furs and jewels, he just up and calls some of the attendees "miserable, horrible people"! Well, I never! Imagine inviting folks to your parlor for afternoon tea and then telling them they're a dreadful bunch! And the nerve of it all, he said the honorees showed "persistence" and then, in the same breath, accused the audience of being persistent because they're miserable! Honestly, I nearly dropped my teacup. It's like he walked into a fancy dinner party and started critiquing everyone's casserole. And that's not even half of it, dear! Turns out, he made himself the big cheese, the chairman of the Kennedy Center board back in February. He got rid of eighteen perfectly good members and put all his own people in charge. He even said he was "98 percent involved" in picking the honorees, and oh, this is a whisper, he turned down "plenty who were too woke." Heavens to Betsy, what is this world coming to?
